National Ballet of Armenia
The National Ballet of Armenia's home stage is the Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre. During Roudolf Kharatian's tenure as Artistic Director from October 2009 to April 2014, the repertoire included Romeo and Juliet (Prokofiev), Spartacus, Giselle, Don Quixote, Gayane, Chopiniana, La Revancha del Tango, Vartanank, Bach’s Passion, Stabat Mater, Bolero, Primavera, Ode to Eternity, Pas de Quatre, La Vivandiere (Markitanka), Ocean and Pearls, The Fairy Doll, Sheherazade (excertps), and numerous classical and contemporary Pas De Deux and short ballets. Kharatian's new ballet La Boheme (music: Charles Aznavour) premiered in May 2017, with the great chanteur himself in attendance.
During Mr. Kharatian's tenure as artistic director, the company toured to Syria (2010), Georgia (2010), Artsakh (2010), Qatar (2013). At Kharatian's invitation, guest artists from the Washington Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and the Bavarian State Ballet performed with the company in 2011 and 2013. During the 2012-2013 season, the NBA performed at the Sundukyan Theater while the Opera House stage underwent a major renovation that lasted almost on year.
